A smash hit in the Central Eastside

"An 86-year-old commercial building in the Central Eastside Industrial District is being demolished to create space for a new mixed-use development. Crews with LOI Environmental & Demolition Services began demolition Tuesday of the 8,000-square-foot former home of Portland Music Co. at Southeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Washington Street.

The building and an adjacent parking lot will be replaced by a six-story building with ground-floor commercial space and five stories of open creative office space. Andersen Construction is serving as the general contractor for the Hacker-designed project, which is being developed by a partnership between Beam Development and Urban Development + Partners."
