Beam is working with the Portland Development Commission on the adaptive re-use of the Convention Plaza building located at the Burnside Bridgehead site. The 97,000 square foot Convention Plaza adaptive reuse project will be the first phase in the Burnside Bridgehead redevelopment that will be a mixed-use “gateway” project for Portland’s Central Eastside. The site is highly visible from Portland's downtown and major transportation corridors with views of Portland's downtown skyline, Convention Center towers and Mt. Hood.
Beam intends to build upon its success in the Central Eastside – Olympic Mills Commerce Center, Eastbank Commerce Center and Water Avenue Commerce Center – with the adaptive reuse of the Convention Plaza building into compelling flex/workspace for both established and emerging companies. The adaptive reuse project will result in the major renovation of the Convention Plaza building including a change of occupancy, exterior improvements (new historic profile windows, new retail openings, a potential roof addition, new multistory openings (common areas), all new mechanical systems, structured parking on the bottom floor, structural work and seismic upgrade. Beam is currently marketing the building to businesses looking for workspace and restaurant/retail space.
