About Beam

Founded in 1992 by developer Brad Malsin, Beam Development provides commercial real estate construction, management and development services. Building on experience developing condominium projects in New York City (The Bindery, 76th Street Condominiums and the 11th Street Coop), Beam has grown to be a creative real estate developer completing challenging and innovative adaptive reuse projects in and around Portland.  Current projects include the Olympic Mills Commerce Center and Milepost 5. The Olympic Mills Commerce Center is a 172,000 square foot historic renovation of a surplus grain mill into flexible work space.  Milepost 5 will provide affordable housing ownership and rental opportunities to up and coming artists in a community setting.  Other projects include the Historic Fairmont Hotel, the only remaining building from the 1904 Lewis & Clark Exposition; the Harrison Court and Westfal Buildings, both historic buildings located in Downtown Portland; and the Water Avenue and Eastbank Commerce Centers located on the City’s Central Eastside.
